El Centro Says Farewell to Volunteer Posted August 11, 2016 by Irene

Our Americorps/Volunteers in Service to America (VISTA), Zoe Timmerman, is leaving us today. Her year of service has ended and she’s moving on to sunny California to continue with VISTA and serve as the Development Coordinator for Community Legal Services of East Palo Alto, CA. She also plans to attend graduate school, where she will seek her Master’s in History.

Ms. Timmerman is native of Lawrence, Kansas and a graduate of Coe College in Cedar Rapids, Iowa with a double major in History and Spanish.  At El Centro, Zoe put her Spanish skills to work while filling in at our front desk.  She also assisted with our voter registration and education efforts and organized our DACA/DAPA Clinics throughout the year.

“I learned more about immigration law than I ever thought I would,” said Ms. Timmerman.  “It was a pleasure to serve the KCK Community and I want to thank everyone for being so welcoming.”

Thank you Zoe for all your hard work. We appreciate what you did for us and we will miss you very much!
