Last Saturday, our Promotoras participated in a Health Fair in St. Louis, organized by the Mexican Consulate, Pfizer and Latinos en Accion.
Here in Kansas City, the Promotoras continue to educate our population by increasing their knowledge of healthy eating and in turn empowering positive changes in community health indicators. In part, this work is done at area farmer’s markets where Promotoras offer tours and teach families about healthier eating on a budget. Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits can be used to purchase fresh fruits and vegetables and in fact double in value at many area farmer’s markets.
This Saturday, they will be at farmer’s markets in Overland Park, Raytown, City Market and Gladstone and on Sunday in the Rosedale Neighborhood of KCK.
