Last Tuesday Health Navigation staff attended the Cesar Chavez Lecture Series at UMKC, an annual presentation that honors the work of Cesar Chavez who inspired and organized many Latinos during the Chicano Movement and founded the United Farm Workers. This year María Teresa Kumar, founding President and CEO of Voto Latino, presented about her work in Voto Latino and how the inspiration from Cesar Chavez has been a driving force as they work to register Latinos to vote and help them engage more in bringing about political change.
