El Centro, in partnership with Brotherhood Bank & Trust and sponsored in part by State Farm Insurance, held a financial literacy class recently in Olathe.  Ten community members participated in several activities that demonstrated how money management tools can be applied to real life situations. The class was presented in an intimate environment, where participants had the opportunity to interact with the presenters and each other by asking questions and sharing with others.

Rodolpho Pina, one of the participants said “This class was very interesting.  It showed me how to re-structure my debts more efficiently as part of a plan to purchase a home in the future for me and my children.”

Another participant, Ana Carrera stated “I am very happy to have attended this beneficial class!  I learned how to make a budget by identifying our income and expenses and how to prioritize and cover our expenses.  I also learned the importance of teaching my children how to save money to plan for the things we want, like a vacation.”

Special thanks to our friend Sandra Olivas from Brotherhood for her assistance in hosting and serving as one of the presenters.
